How Exactly Does Cleaning Your Dryer Vent Accomplish All These Great Things?

It's all about DRYER AIRFLOW!

Clean Dryer Vent = Good Dryer Airflow

WHEN Should You Have The Dryer Vent Doctor Clean Your Dryer Vent Line?

  • It's EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to have your dryer vent cleaned regularly BEFORE lint has a chance to build up to dangerous levels in the vent pipe.

  • For most folks, the dryer vent line should be cleaned every two years, but if you do a LOT of laundry (nearly every day) it should be cleaned annually.

HOWEVER, your dryer vent can get clogged at any time due to excessive lint build up or a bird building a nest in the vent! It's VERY IMPORTANT to have the Dryer Vent Doctor clean the vent RIGHT AWAY if this happens because you could be at high risk of a dryer fire.

BUT...

  • A clogged-vent warning light illuminates on your dryer. Your dryer is sensing a low-airflow condition through the vent.

  • Your dryer starts taking a lot longer to dry the clothes. This can be REALLY annoying and happens because the clogged vent is not venting the moisture from the clothes, so your clothes don't dry. Probably the most common warning.

Your dryer tells the tale! Here are the warning signs to watch for:

  • Clothes in the dryer and the top and sides of dryer feel extremely hot. This happens because the clogged vent doesn't allow the dryer heat to be vented to the outside so it builds up to extreme levels in the dryer

  • The dryer no longer heats up or won't even turn on. The excessive heat build-up in the dryer caused by the clogged vent overstresses the heating element and can cause it to break, or causes a dryer thermal fuse to trip. If a thermal fuse trips, the dryer may not turn on at all.

  • Very little lint is collecting on the lint filter in the dryer. Since the clogged vent prevents good dryer airflow, the lint stays in the dryer and doesn't collect on your lint filter

Again, you should call the Dryer Vent Doctor right away if you notice these symptoms!
